BaLinkBayan focal persons from 22 Local Government Units (LGUs) and 5 Filipino Associations Overseas (FAOs) successfully completed the 3-day Online Content Writing Workshop organized by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) from June 21-23, 2022.
Designed to enhance the content creation and management skills of BaLinkBayan partners as they populate their respective portals, the training focused on the foundation of writing including the rules of grammar, traditional and contemporary styles and techniques, digital content strategies, and its corresponding application in producing timely and interesting materials.
Secretary Francisco P. Acosta opened the event reiterating CFO’s commitment in promoting the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their families in the Philippines through the use of digital platforms such as the BaLinkBayan Portal. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with LGUs and FAOs, and continuously strengthening their capabilities as agents of migration and development (M&D).
During the training, participants actively took part in the exercises and discussions drafting migration and local government-related contents. As a result, they were able to produce laudable written outputs such as articles on economic opportunities for OFs, local press releases, and information on available diaspora engagement.
Undersecretary Abdulgani M. Macatoman officially closed the program stating his gratitude to the unwavering support of LGUs and FAOs as the Commission’s allies in mainstreaming M&D and in delivering services that will help OFs in their transactions with the Philippine government while miles away from home.
Spearheaded by the Project Management Division (PMD) and Management Information Systems Division (MISD), the training was facilitated by communication consultant and management specialist Dr. Sheila Viesca of TalkShop.
