The Commission on Filipinos Overseas picks up where it left off in its partnership with LGU Kidapawan City. On February 8, 2023, the BaLinkBayan Team of the Commission flew to Kidapawan City to carry out data gathering and website management training for the city’s localized BaLinkBayan website. The two partners inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the BaLinkBayan Project back on January 6, 2020, which was to be the start of a series of activities aimed at capacitating the focal persons who will manage the project. However, the planned activities were put on a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Aida Labanda of the Public OFW Desk Office, who officially commenced the event, welcomed the CFO representatives and expressed gratitude for the latter’s commitment to revitalizing the partnership between the two organizations. Twenty (20) delegates were sent by LGU Kidapawan, representing the city’s local offices, including the tourism, city administration, OFW desk, and IT personnel.
Ms. Lindsay Mercado gave a succinct overview of the BaLinkBayan Project to reacquaint the participants with its objectives, significance, and purpose. After the project overview presentation, participants were then divided into two breakout groups: one for the data gathering workshop and another for the website management training.
The workshop on data gathering was spearheaded by Ms. Mayumi Peralta of the Project Management Division. She emphasized the necessary and ideal content to be placed under the LGU’s localized BaLinkBayan website. Meanwhile, in the other breakout session, Ms. Alyssa Gozo and Marjorie Aboga trained the participants on website system upkeep.
Following the training session, CFO representatives paid a courtesy visit to the City Mayor Atty. Joseph Evangelista who accepted on behalf of Kidapawan City BaLinkBayan Focal Point the personal computer, the provision of which is among CFO’s responsibility as stipulated in the signed MOA.
This undertaking is a component of CFO’s pledge to foster continuous development of the project for the benefit of overseas Filipinos and their families through the BaLinkBayan Project.
