The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) held the 2021 BaLinkBayan Stakeholders Meeting last November 25, 2021.
Representatives from 32 Local Government Units (LGUs) convened to join the discussion on portal revitalization and project development plans in response to the challenges surrounding the BaLinkBayan Program.
Also presented were key issues on website management and digital marketing strategies, as identified in the BaLinkBayan Phase 2 Assessment Report conducted by the project secretariat during the pandemic.
In his welcome remarks, Sec. Francisco P. Acosta expressed his appreciation and recognition of the significant contribution of partner LGUs in promoting the BaLinkBayan to reach a wider network particularly in its Phase II implementation. “The fulfillment of the stratagem of mainstreaming was effectively played by no less than you, our dearest Local Government Unit partners, whom we consider as one of the most important pillars of migration and development in the country.”
Localized BaLinkBayan Innovation and Development Plans
Utilizing their learnings from the previous marketing design and web management training provided by the CFO, focal persons from 17 LGUs presented updates that they have made in their respective local portals and social media pages.
The meeting also served as a platform for local BLB managers to share their best practices in further improving their portals and promoting migrant engagement in their respective localities.
Dependable Partners in Responding to the Challenges of Migration and Development
Project Management Division (PMD) Director Marita del Rosario-Apattad officially closed the program by extending her gratitude to the Commission’s LGU partners. She likewise reiterated the national agency’s commitment in regularly engaging and capacitating BaLinkBayan partners to be dependable, effective and efficient responders to the challenges of migration and development in the country at the local level.
